Secondary Education Observations
In March of 2024 I visited Chippewa Valley High School’s visual art’s teacher, Wendelin Wilson. I got to observe Mrs. Wilson, teach a secondary art lesson, interact with students, and tour the facilities. I found it to be a very helpful experience working with high school students. I got a better understanding of advanced art lessons and how to manage a large classroom. It opened my eyes to the opportunities that are available when teaching a secondary art program.

Pixel Art Lesson Plan
My lesson plan was based on art history and color mixing. I wanted to give students a way to explore color mixing in a fun way, while also analyzing paintings from an art history perspective. The students were very engaged in this lesson and enjoyed the color mixing practice. Students got to choose one of the four paintings presented to translate into pixel form using acrylic paint and a gridded canvas paper sheet. I did a live demo for the students, demonstrating the color mixing and attention to detail required to analyze their chosen painting. Here is the link to the full lesson.
